One day after Washington won a fourth-straight game but likely lost its star tight end for the season, fans of the Burgundy and Gold are still fuming over what many saw as a dirty play by the Raiders defender who went low to take out Logan Thomas‘ legs.
Thomas suffered what the team said is likely a torn ACL and MCL in the fourth quarter after Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue chopped Thomas on a rushing play.
The Burgundy and Gold are reportedly waiting for an MRI to confirm the diagnosis, but if that’s the case, the injuries would be a serious blow to Washington’s offense.
Thomas was in his second game back after missing six games with a hamstring. And since his return, the 6-foot-6 tight end had been productive. Against the Raiders, Thomas had three catches for 48 yards and a touchdown. His score came on a spectacular one-handed grab on a play-action throw from quarterback Taylor Heinicke.
Thomas has served as a threat for Washington in the red zone — all 10 of his touchdowns have come in that area since he signed a two-year deal last offseason. The team extended Thomas to a three-year, $24 million deal in August.
Coach Ron Rivera said he did not have an update on Thomas’ condition when he met with reporters. He was also asked if he had an opinion on the hit that led to Thomas’ injury.
“No, other than we know it’s a knee right now,” Rivera said. “I just saw him on the ground.”
Yooo @NFL
You NEED to do something about this ridiculous play that ended Logan Thomas season. These dirty plays should not go without consequences!

Thomas would be the third player on the team to suffer an ACL knee injury this year, joining edge rusher Chase Young and Torry McTyer.
Big W in Vegas but the season-ending DIRTY strike at the knees of Logan Thomas by @YannickNgakoue will prove devastating to this offense. @nflcommish and @nfl need to review and seriously discipline @YannickNgakoue #WashingtonFootball #wft #nfl #dirtyplay pic.twitter.com/FOTjZQM55F

Without Thomas, Washington has gone with veteran Ricky Seals-Jones, fourth-rounder John Bates and rookie Sammis Reyes. Seals-Jones has not played the last two weeks because of a hip injury, but his return could be near as he was listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup. Seals-Jones has 23 catches for 230 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.
