Shiv Sena UBT chief Sanjay Raut on July 28 stated the “insult” of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the NITI Aayog assembly held in New Delhi a day earlier was not good for democracy.
“States have several issues, which need to be addressed and muting the microphone of a Chief Minister doesn’t suit democratic norms”, Mr. Raut stated.
Mamata Banerjee on July 27 walked out of a NITI Aayog assembly chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming she was unfairly stopped halfway via her speech, a cost denied by the federal government asserting that her talking time was over.
Ms. Banerjee, the one Opposition chief to attend the assembly, alleged her microphone was switched off after 5 minutes of her speech whereas different Chief Ministers, together with these from Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Assam, and Chhattisgarh, had been allowed to talk for an extended period.
“The money which is distributed by the Centre belongs to the people of India. It is collected as various taxes. What did Maharashtra get?… Our Chief Minister came back empty-handed,” Mr. Raut stated in a swipe on the ruling alliance below Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
