Cathay Pacific has positioned a agency order with
Airbus for thirty A330-900 plane, following an analysis by
the Hong Kong-based airline beneath its mid-size widebody fleet
renewal programme.
The newly-ordered plane will allow Cathay to
modernise its earlier technology A330-300 fleet and broaden
operations on excessive capability regional routes. The plane will
additionally supply flexibility to serve longer vary locations.
Powered by the most recent technology Rolls-Royce Trent
7000 engines, the A330neo is able to flying 7,200 nm / 13,330
km continuous and delivers a 14% higher plane gasoline burn per seat
in comparison with the A330 / Trent 700, whereas considerably reducing
emissions.

“At Cathay, the A330neo will become the backbone
of its regional widebody operations, with the versatility to
operate on longer routes,” stated Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief
Government Officer, Industrial Plane. “Together with its A320
Family and A350 fleets, the airline will be able to take full
benefit from the unique synergies of the latest generation Airbus
product line.”
As with all Airbus plane, the A330neo is
already capable of function with as much as 50% sustainable aviation gasoline
(SAF) and work is ongoing to legally improve this to 100% by 2030.

hub status, but also represents our commitment to fostering our
home city’s ongoing development,” stated Ronald Lam, Cathay Group
Chief Government Officer. “The A330 is an aircraft type that has
been serving Cathay Pacific well for nearly 30 years. These new
aircraft will principally serve our regional destinations in Asia,
while also providing the flexibility to serve longer-haul
destinations as required. The improved fuel efficiency of these
A330neos, together with their high standards of comfort, will
enable us to further elevate the experience we provide for our
customers while also contributing towards our goal of net-zero
carbon emissions by 2050.”
