The artist behind these sculptures is Adam Szubski (1931–2008), a former stonemason who additionally experimented with metallic and combined supplies.
His works are deeply private, portraying associates and acquaintances—a lot of whom had been fellow residents of Zgon, Poland. The sculptures seize them in quite a lot of lifelike poses: some seated close to the home, others seemingly wandering in a close-by meadow, and lots of standing within the backyard, as if frozen in time throughout a go to they by no means left. A very putting function is a set of busts organized on a ladder, creating a singular and nearly surreal composition. Over time, their weathered expressions, coupled with the pure decay of the supplies, lend the positioning an eerie, timeless environment.
