Haribo recalled its “Happy Cola” sweets within the Netherlands on Thursday after hashish was found within the packets and a number of other folks, together with youngsters, fell sick.

The Dutch Meals and Client Product Security Authority (NVWA) mentioned solely three luggage of the “Happy Cola F!ZZ” had been affected however an entire recall was undertaken as a precaution.

“There are bags in circulation with sweets that can lead to health complaints, such as dizziness, when consumed,” mentioned the NVWA in a press release.

NVWA spokesperson Saida Ahyad instructed AFP: “Cannabis was found in the cola bottles in question,” referring to the sweets’ form.

“The police reported this to the NVWA after several people, both children and adults, became ill after eating the cola bottles.”

Ahyad mentioned police had been now investigating how the hashish made its means into the candy luggage.

“After consultation with the NVWA and as is customary in these types of situations, Haribo has issued a safety warning,” mentioned Ahyad.

“Do not eat the sweets,” warned the NVWA.

Patrick Tax, advertising and marketing vice-president at Haribo, mentioned the product recall involved “a limited number of cases” with one product within the east of the nation.

“The safety of our consumers is our highest priority and Haribo takes this incident very seriously,” Tax mentioned in a press release despatched to AFP.

“This is a live issue and we are working closely with the Dutch authorities to support their investigation and establish the facts around the contamination,” he added.
