Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones said Tuesday he has recovered the chain containing his father’s ashes that he lost during his four-touchdown performance on “Monday Night Football” against the Detroit Lions.

After the win, Jones told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that he lost the chain in the end zone after one of his scores, and added that the ground’s crew was searching for it. Then speaking on The Steve Cazban Show the following day, Jones revealed the jewelry was indeed recovered.

Against the Lions, Jones wore a necklace that was shaped in a football-like medallion for his first game at Lambeau Field since the death of his father in April. Jones‘ father, Alvin Jones Sr., died from complications due to COVID-19. The medallion, Jones said, contained his father’s ashes.

Jones told reporters that he thought the chain came off during the second quarter after catching his second receiving touchdown.

“If there was any place to lose it, (the end zone is) where my dad would’ve wanted me to lose it,” Jones said. “So I know he‘s smiling.”
