After 17 years of classical piano, Georgii Zaitsev switches to pop music

Georgii Zaitsev is a classical pianist raging for pop music. He is a skilled performer, producer, and songwriter, giving music lessons in New York City.

Born in Tula, Russia, in a family that always strived to immerse their kids into music education, Georgii was very gifted and bonded with music at a very young age. He got accepted into a music school in his hometown when he was only 5 years old, and almost immediately he started participating in piano competitions, achieving laureate prizes which granted him the opportunity to transfer to the music school of Tula College of Arts to pursue a piano performance degree. Georgii continued to compete and perform in different venues as a solo performer and as a member of a piano duo with a wonderful musician and a close friend Timothy Kunin. In Russia, Georgii has competed to become a winner of National and International piano competitions including Bakhchiev’s piano duets competition, Gnessins’ International Youth Competition for Chamber Ensembles, Piano Duets, and “I Am the Artist” solo piano competition. Georgii Zaitsev was a guest pianist at the city Noble Assembly concerts performing with orchestras, and was a frequent guest on the Hope Channel Russia live events. For the last two years, Zaitsev has been on the Hope Channel Russia broadcast rotation.

In 2018 Georgii received an offer letter from the all-Steinway & Sons school Southern Adventist University, Chattanooga, TN, accepting him into the music program with grants and scholarships. This opportunity completely turned his life around and he transferred to Southern during the summer of the same year. While studying in Tennessee, Georgii has expanded his experience as a musician by involving himself in different music projects, such as opera premiers, ensemble performances, and solo gigs. He has been an accompanist at different churches and has toured with choirs across the United States as an accompanist and a singer. During university, Georgii won the national SAU Concerto Concert competition setting him to perform Edward Grieg’s A minor Concerto with the symphony orchestra. Georgii recalls that moment in his artistic life as the one that established the connection between him and the audience, creating an everlasting bond. Georgii Zaitsev gave a Senior Recital upon his graduation, the repertoire of which included two of his favorite classical pieces “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2” by Franz Liszt and “Une Barque Sur L’Ocean” by Maurice Ravel. The Recital was sold out in person and was streamed across the world.

Upon graduating from Southern Adventist University with a Bachelor’s in Piano Performance, Georgii Zaitsev moved to New York City where he began teaching piano while working on his debut music release. Teaching across all 5 boroughs of the city, Georgii has gained over 35 students taking piano, guitar, and music theory lessons with him. Two times a month he gives a masterclass on songwriting and music production at Manhattan Guitar Center.

November is the intended month of Georgii’s debut single release which is set to launch his pop music career. He has been working on this project for a year and cannot wait to share it with the public.
