NEW DELHI: The federal government on Monday stated 13 individuals have been arrested in 2024 in reference to hoax bomb threats to airways. Citing knowledge from the bureau of civil aviation safety (BCAS), minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol stated 728 hoax bomb threats have been acquired by airline operators in 2024.
Among the many Indian airways, IndiGo acquired the best variety of bomb threats at 216, adopted by Air India (179), Vistara (153), Akasa Air (72), SpiceJet (35), Alliance Air (26), Air India Specific (19) and Star Air (14).

“Total 13 persons have been arrested in 2024 in connection with hoax bomb threats,” he stated in a written reply.
BCAS has mandated strong protocols for dealing with such threats and as a part of the bomb risk contingency plan (BTCP), each airport has a chosen bomb risk evaluation committee (BTAC) which analyses the risk and act accordingly.
“In order to deal with hoax bomb threats, BCAS has issued advisories to all the civil aviation stakeholders in the country to ensure streamlined security measures and to prevent any unlawful interference with civil aviation,” the minister stated.
