A local weather activist in British Columbia says he’s packing his luggage and plans to report back to the Vancouver airport later Saturday to face deportation again to Pakistan, believing his elimination from Canada is “certain” with out ministerial intervention.

Zain Haq, who first got here to Canada on a pupil visa, says he’s due on the airport to catch a flight to Toronto earlier than he’s set to be despatched again to Pakistan Sunday.

Haq says he and his Canadian spouse, Sophia Papp, wakened in “disbelief” as they face the prospect of being compelled overseas after what the couple describes as abureaucratic snafu derailed a spousal software for his everlasting residency.

Haq, who co-founded the activist group Save Previous Progress as a global pupil, pleaded responsible to 5 expenses of mischief in 2023 over his function in environmental protests that blocked roadways in 2021 and 2022.

He was granted a short lived allow to remain in Canada final April, however Haq says his software to remain on humanitarian and compassionate grounds was denied though his offences have been non-violent and he and Papp pose no threat to public security.

Haq says they’re nonetheless holding out hope for Immigration Minister Marc Miller to halt his deportation.
