Within the late Nineteen Seventies, Tina Turner, embarking on her solo profession after leaving her abusive marriage, teamed up with designer Bob Mackie to craft her iconic stage picture.
Turner needed an operatic look, resulting in gorgeous designs like Mackie’s flame gown and daring outfits that highlighted her well-known legs. Mackie’s creations, typically that includes daring slits and built-in trunks, showcased her highly effective presence and strut, embodying the liberty and pleasure she radiated as a solo star. Reflecting on their collaboration, Mackie admired Turner’s capacity to impress audiences, saying, “She generated such joy—and that’s what entertainers should do.”
