The Vancouver Canucks underwent a management overhaul on Sunday, firing their coach, assistant coach, general manager and assistant general manager.
To replace coach Travis Green, the Canucks hired former Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau. Vancouver has the fifth-worst record in the NHL with 18 points and is last place in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division.
Vancouver will be Boudreau’s fourth stop in the NHL since his first job in Washington about 15 years ago. He was working as an analyst for the NHL Network this season.
Boudreau’s coaching career began in D.C. in 2007, and he led the Capitals to four straight division titles before being fired early in his fifth season. He amassed a 201-88-40 record with the Capitals, but his teams never made it to the conference finals.
Following his time in Washington, Boudreau coached Anaheim from 2011-12 to 2015-16 and Minnesota from 2016-17 to 2019-20. The Ducks made a conference finals under Boudreau in 2014-15. He was fired by the Wild late in the 2019-20 season. His career record is 567-302-115.
He is expected to coach his first game for Vancouver Monday.
