Nation artist Conner Smith was concerned in a deadly automotive accident in Nashville over the weekend, as he reportedly struck and killed a lady strolling in a crosswalk.
In response to a press launch from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Division, the singer was behind the wheel of a pickup truck on June 8 when the incident occurred.
The 77-year-old sufferer — recognized as Dorothy Dobbins — seemed to be strolling inside a marked crosswalk when the accident befell.
She was taken to Vanderbilt College Medical Heart and pronounced useless not lengthy after.
“The preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian,” the press launch reads. “He showed no signs of impairment.”
An investigation into the accident is ongoing and there aren’t any costs “at present” towards Smith, the police added.
Smith himself has not but commented on this tragedy.
Nonetheless, a lawyer for the artist stated the next late on Monday:
“On June eighth, Mr. Smith was concerned in a automotive accident that tragically claimed a life. His coronary heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins’ household throughout this extremely troublesome time.
“Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.”
Smith first rose to fame in 2021 along with his viral monitor “I Hate Alabama,” releasing his debut album (Smoky Mountains) in 2024.
Earlier within the weekend, he carried out on the 2025 CMA Fest in Nashville, admitting on social media that the occasion was a profession spotlight.
“I just remember coming down here and watching people on that stage and dreaming about it, and looking up to the guys on that stage,” he stated in an interview with American Songwriter posted on its TikTok web page June 9.
“And then when you get to be up there and see people come in and pack out that lawn for you, it feels really cool.”
Smith is a Nashville native who’s married to surfer Leah Thompson.
He has opened for Luke Bryan on tour and was nominated for New Male Artist of the 12 months on the 2024 ACM Awards.
