Meta late Monday stated it’s banning Russian state media shops from its apps world wide as a result of “foreign interference activity.”
The ban comes after the US accused RT and workers of the state run company of funneling $10 million by shell entities to covertly fund affect campaigns on social media channels together with TikTok, Instagram, X, and YouTube, in line with an unsealed indictment.
“After careful consideration, we expanded our ongoing enforcement against Russian state media outlets,” Meta stated in response to an AFP inquiry.
“Rossiya Segodnya, RT and other related entities are now banned from our apps globally for foreign interference activity.”
RT was pressured to stop formal operations in Britain, Canada, the European Union and the US as a result of sanctions after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, in line with the indictment unsealed in New York,
