First-time MLA Rekha Gupta as we speak took oath because the fourth lady chief minister of Delhi, days after the Bharatiya Janata Celebration (BJP) returned to energy within the nationwide capital after over 26 years, ending the 10-year rule of the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Celebration (AAP). The grand ceremony was held on the iconic Ramlila floor and was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of 20 states, and different senior BJP leaders and staff.
PM Modi mentioned Ms Gupta, 50, has risen from the grassroots and expressed confidence that she is going to work for town’s improvement with full vigour.
“My best wishes to her for a fruitful tenure,” he posted on X after the ceremony.
Rekha Gupta is the fourth lady chief minister of the capital after Sushma Swaraj (BJP), Sheila Dikshit (Congress) and Atishi (AAP). Apart from her, six newly elected MLAs — Parvesh Verma, Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, Pankaj Singh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Ravinder Indraj — additionally took oath as members of the brand new Council of Ministers.
