A suspended Labour councillor has been charged with encouraging violent dysfunction.
Ricky Jones, 57, was filmed addressing a crowd at a London demonstration on Wednesday night, throughout which he “appeared to make remarks and a gesture to encourage others to act violently towards far-right protestors”, the Crown Prosecution Service stated.
Jaswant Narwal, chief crown prosecutor for CPS London North, stated: “He has been arrested and charged inside 48 hours, and can now seem at Westminster Magistrates’ Courtroom this afternoon, 9 August.
“We remind all involved that felony proceedings are energetic and that he has the precise to a good trial.
“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
Jones, who’s a councillor in Dartford, Kent, was suspended by the Labour Occasion after he was arrested on Thursday.
