Pittsburgh wide receiver Chase Claypool has a simple solution to fix the team’s woes — music.
Following the team’s 41-10 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday, the second-year wideout was asked what could be done to improve the team’s practice habits. His answer wasn’t as serious as the question.
“We have music in the warmups and that, so it’s fun,” Claypool said. “People are dancing, having fun. So I think maybe music would make practice more fun and a little more uptempo.”
He added the disclaimer that he isn’t the team’s coach and that the decision is up to Mike Tomlin, who has been Pittsburgh’s coach since 2007. Claypool also said former Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly didn’t play music at practice either, and it’s something he’s advocated for ever since.
Tomlin didn’t seem too pleased Tuesday when he was asked about Claypool’s comments.
“Claypool plays wideout, and I’ll let him do that,” Tomlin said. “I’ll formulate the practice approach, and that division of labor is probably appropriate.”
