The Trump staff has cooked up yet one more racist government order for Expensive Chief to signal, this time requiring U.S. truck drivers to talk English.
“President Trump believes that English is a non-negotiable safety requirement for professional drivers, as they should be able to read and understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officers, border patrol, agricultural checkpoints, and cargo weight-limit station personnel, and provide and receive feedback and directions in English,” the chief order says.
President Donald Trump signed the order, which was given prematurely to Breitbart Information, Monday night. The order directs unqualified Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to “rescind and replace guidance to strengthen inspection procedures for compliance with English proficiency requirements.”
“We’re gonna ensure that our truckers, who are the backbone of our policy, are all able to speak English,” White Home press secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned throughout a press convention Monday.
This isn’t the primary time Trump signed an order demanding folks in the US to talk English. In March, he signed one other order that designates English because the official language of the US.
“To promote unity, cultivate a shared American culture for all citizens, ensure consistency in government operations, and create a pathway to civic engagement, it is in America’s best interest for the Federal Government to designate one — and only one — official language,” the order mentioned.
However this new order is straight aimed on the trucking business, which supported Trump by massive margins within the 2024 election. After all, whether or not or not drivers communicate English must be the least of the trucking business’s worries now.
Specialists are warning that, on account of Trump’s idiotic tariffs, armageddon is coming for the trucking business as corporations are pausing orders for imported items.
Apollo International Administration, a U.S. asset administration firm, launched a forecast on Monday predicting that, by mid to late Could, trucking demand will “come to a halt,” leading to mass layoffs by late Could or early June.
Already, ports are seeing fewer cargo ships arrive with items, which truckers would then be chargeable for distributing to retail shops and warehouses throughout the nation.
In comparison with final yr, Port of Los Angeles import volumes are projected to say no 11% this week and a whopping 31% subsequent week. And a significant port in Seattle, Washington, had no cargo ships docked on Friday.
“One of my fears is that the local trucking community is going to be the first to be impacted by these changes,” Jeff Bellerud, chief working officer on the Northwest Seaport Alliance that oversees the operations on the port, informed the Seattle Instances.
And Craig Fuller, CEO of FreightWaves, which covers the freight and logistics business, mentioned that extra ache is coming for truckers.
“Trucking volumes have collapsed to near pre-COVID levels. Unfortunately, for truckers, the worst is yet to come. With imports deteriorating, volumes are expected to fall by another 3-4% over the next month,” he wrote on X.
Even the truck manufacturing business is impacted, with Mack Vans asserting earlier this month that it’s going to lay off between 250 and 350 employees on account of Trump’s tariffs.
However, hey, at the least the few remaining trucking employees will communicate English. Proper, Trump?
