Bharatiya Janata Celebration MP Dinesh Sharma on Thursday renamed the Tughlaq Lane within the nationwide capital to Swami Vivekananda Marg, a transfer that coincides with the occasion legislators’ calls for to rename varied areas of the town.

This comes as Sharma carried out ‘Griha Pravesh’ in his newly allotted residence at Delhi’s Tughlaq Lane – a reputation that he overshadowed with “Swami Vivekananda Marg” on the nameplate.

Sharma shared the photographs of his ‘Griha Pravesh’ alongside along with his members of the family on X, displaying the brand new tackle as “6–Swami Vivekananda Marg (Tughlaq Lane)”.

“Today, at the new residence located in New Delhi on Swami Vivekananda Marg (Tughlak Lane), I performed the housewarming ceremony with my family, following all rituals and offering prayers,” he posted on X, together with the photographs.

His step to spotlight “Swami Vivekananda Marg” within the nameplate comes amid rising calls by the BJP MLAs to rename a number of areas of the town.

Notably, Tughlaq Highway within the nationwide capital was renamed Abdul Kalam Highway in 2015. The choice was taken by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in August that 12 months to honour former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam after his demise.

Previous to this, the street was named after Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq, the founding father of the Tughlaq dynasty. Nonetheless, Tughlaq Lane retained its unique title.
