The UGC has issued present trigger notices to 18 medical schools for non-compliance with anti-ragging laws, officers stated on Thursday (February 5, 2025).
The defaulter schools embody two every in Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry; three every in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar; and one every in Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
“It was found that these colleges had not complied with the mandatory requirements set forth in the Anti-Ragging Regulations, 2009, for curbing the menace of ragging. Specifically, it has come to our notice that the institutions failed to obtain the anti-ragging undertakings from students as required by the said regulations,” College Grants Fee (UGC) Secretary Manish Joshi stated.
The Anti-Ragging Laws, 2009, mandate that each scholar and their mother and father and guardians should submit an anti-ragging endeavor on the time of admission and originally of each educational yr.
