Let’s take a look at how women add to business by being in the company’s C-Suite
Women are still only represented in C-Suite positions in smaller numbers, with only 1 in 17 CEOs being women. This is despite the fact that having women in C-suite roles helps to boost profitability and creates a happier, more balanced overall workforce, according to recent research.
Let’s take a look at the facts and how women in C-Level positions help to strengthen your company.
1. Women in C-Suite roles help to drive revenue.
Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank explains that he always ensures to add female-led companies to his portfolio. Why? Of the companies he has become a shareholder of, 65% of the male-headed companies hit their financial targets, as opposed to 95% of female-headed companies.
O’Leary commented “This is real data. This is real money coming back to me.”
In recent research by Quantopian, they made direct analysis between Fortune 1000 companies headed by women vs the S&P 500. Their findings were that women-led companies drove 2.3 times as much revenue as their male-led competitors.
2. Women in C-Suite roles help to make employees happier.
Comments from recent research were filled with positive comments from colleagues of the female CEOs; “I love having a boss who is an empowered female. I also love the camaraderie that exists among my colleagues.”
The Harris Poll also showed that colleagues of female CEOs felt more empowered within the workplace, with 71% of all of those surveyed (both men and women) saying that having a woman in a C-Level position made them feel they could also achieve an executive role.
3. Women are often more effective leaders
Recent research conducted by global management firm, McKinsey, found that women in leadership roles exhibit certain behaviors, that their male counterparts do not, that are vital in meeting day-to-day business challenges.
They found that women in C-suite roles were “critical” to the company’s future success, after surveying more than a thousand managers. They are therefore looking to further champion diversity in C-suite roles.
