Anastasia Balyka is a very talented Ukrainian violinist who was born and lives in Kiev, Ukraine. She has won several awards in Ukraine and abroad for her great performances. She spoke to us about her music career, plans and dreams.
Anastasia, what first got you into music?
I was born in a musical family & my love for music was passed on through my mother’s milk. She used to play the piano and sing songs for me when I was little and my dad used to play the accordion. I went to the music school when I was five years old, to learn the piano, and within the walls of the school, I heard for the first time the sounds of the violin and I fell in love with that instrument from the first note, then I started to learn the violin at the age of 7.
Where have you performed until now?
At the moment, I am a student at the Music Academy of Kiev. I performed at various events and concerts, most notably the Kickboxing match of Ukraine -Turkey in 2021, as I took part in many Ukrainian and international competitions where I won the first prizes.
Which famous musicians do you admire?
I admire the virtuosity and skills of David Garret & Caroline Campbell. They inspire me to work more on myself in a way to achieve my dreams.
How has the war in Ukraine affected you?
The war has made its own adjustments to the life of every Ukrainian and to my life as well. Studying became online now and performances have ceased. The main purpose has become to survive, but above everything I didn’t stop performing and making music. I would like to thank all my friends who supported us from Ukraine and abroad, and because of their help, we didn’t lose faith in our victory and bright future. I am sure that beautiful music will save the world!
How do you think it is possible to help people through music?
I believe that music gives wings to people who lost faith and hope. And now, music helps the Ukrainian fighters at the front & it raises their morale.
Do you have any other talents or hobbies?
I’ve been doing vocals and choreography since childhood. I won prizes in different Ukrainian and international vocal competitions as I shared the stage with many famous Ukrainian singers. Music inspires me to write poetry as well.
What are your future plans?
My plans are to become a virtuoso violinist, to perform on the world’s biggest stages & concert halls, to spread the light of music to people all over the world and to inspire them to love and do good things in life.
