El Paso Walmart shooter pleads responsible to capital homicide in racist 2019 assault

The gunman who killed 23 folks in a racist assault at a Walmart in El Paso in 2019 — one of many deadliest mass shootings in U.S. historical past — pleaded responsible Monday to capital homicide in a state district courtroom.

Crusius has acknowledged he focused Hispanics on Aug. 3, 2019, when he opened hearth in a Walmart within the Texas border metropolis that was crowded with weekend buyers from the U.S. and Mexico.

“Are you pleading guilty because you are guilty and for no other reason,” Medrano requested him.

“Yes, your honor,” Crusius calmly responded.

Crusius, who appeared in courtroom sporting a striped jumpsuit, shackles and a protecting vest, might be routinely sentenced to life in jail with out parole.
